Andy Walker believes Gordon Strachan will not remain as Scotland manager if they lose to England on Friday night. The Scots travel south to Wembley in their World Cup qualifier after an underwhelming start in Group F and questions were asked of Strachans future after last months double header which saw Scotland take one point from fixtures against Lithuania and Slovakia.Strachan remains in charge as the national side aim to qualify for their first tournament since the World Cup in 1998 but, while Walker says the England clash is now make or break for the former Celtic boss, he has not ruled out Scotland getting a result in London. Andy Walker says Gordon Strachan will not remain as Scotland boss if they lose to England Its been so disappointing, the start to our campaign, Walker told Sky Sports News HQ. To have dropped so many points has been a real blow, especially after losing out in qualification for the Euros when every one of the home nations was there. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.99. No contract. That was a huge disappointment, this has started badly. If we lose on Friday night I dont think Gordon will be in the position after that and Ive no idea who might be the favourite to take over .But I certainly wouldnt rule us out of getting something on Friday night. Nothing fires the passion of a Scotsman more than a game against England, especially at Wembley. Well have around 15,000 fans there, they will make a great noise. Leigh Griffiths looking frustrated after Scotlands 1-1 draw with Lithuania Walker understands that Strachan does not have the same player resources as interim England boss Gareth Southgate will be able to call upon on Friday, but says the Scotland boss must come up with a big game plan if they are to take anything from the tie.It is hard to make a case for us on the pitch in terms of the quality of player but I just wonder what Gordon might come up with in terms of a game plan, he said. Sometimes you have to come up with a big performance, a game plan that the players believe in and trust and it actually works. Scotland lost 3-2 on their last visit to Wembley in 2013 Most managers can come up with a big game that goes their way against all odds and if Gordon was to somehow navigate a victory at Wembley that would get everyone back onside.Fitness permitting, Strachan should be able to call upon the services of Scott Brown again, who has made himself available for selection after earlier announcing his international retirement, but former Scotland striker Walker says the comeback must be for more than just this qualifier. Former Celtic and Scotland striker Andy Walker says Scott Brown’s international comeback must be for more than just the England World Cup qualifier Its good that we have Scott Brown back. I understand a player retiring from international football; I might not agree with it, but I understand it. If you think youve made a mistake and you come back, I absolutely get that as well but under no circumstances do you come back for one game. You cannot pick and choose a game. You must come back and play for the rest of the campaign. I think it would be really insulting if Scott Brown was to come back [for one game], hopefully he is fit and available for selection, but surely he has got to play for the rest of the campaign - win, lose or draw.
